Strengthen children’s immune system thanks to vitamins and supplements

Rinforzare il sistema immunitario dei bambini

A correct functioning of children’s immune system is the most essential in order to defend the body from potentially harmful external agents. Despite the fundamental task that this performs, not everyone knows that the immune system reaches full maturity only around 5 or 6 years of age, which is why children younger than the indicated age can be considerably more vulnerable than adults.
At an early age, children can count on what is commonly referred to as innate immunity, i.e. the body’s ability to fight any viruses through barriers such as the skin and mucous membranes through the development of specific inflammations aimed at countering any pathogens.
With growth, the organism develops something similar to a memory, capable of storing data and enriching itself whenever the body has to fight off a possible infection. This phenomenon is called acquired immunity.

Contexts such as these concern specific immune responses, which occur in a targeted way depending on the type of virus present in the body. Precisely the absence of adequate acquired immunity is the reason why children tend to get sick on a regular basis. Fortunately, however, it is possible to increase the defenses by taking advantage of some remedies.
In the following paragraphs, therefore, some solutions will be introduced that can provide greater protection to the little ones and prevent them from spending time fighting seasonal ailments.

Children’s Immune System: why it is important to strengthen it

The excessive fragility that characterizes the immune system of children is the reason why, right from the start, it is necessary to encourage the development of defenses. It is no coincidence that during the winter season, cold and sudden changes in temperature cause problems such as flu, cough, cold and sore throat in children.
Sicknesses of this type favor the development of special antibodies in the organism of the little ones capable of regulating the immune response and, in the following years, the actual defenses. As anticipated in the previous paragraph, this development takes several years and, by virtue of this, it is necessary to increase the immune defenses of children by opting for some precautions in the daily lifestyle.
In most cases, strengthening the immune system takes place through some good habits, such as:

  • a correction of the diet, which will have to limit the consumption of sugars and preservatives
  • the performance of sports and physical activity, a habit capable of keeping the children’s immune system active and functional
  • the intake of vitamins, which can be assimilated both naturally both through natural supplements that support the immune function by playing a role of primary importance in the development and growth of the little ones.

What are the vitamins capable of increasing children’s immune defenses

Before listing and describing the nutrients capable of promoting a healthy and optimal development of the immune system, it is advisable to clarify a concept which, although it may seem trivial, is often little considered.
Mineral salts and vitamins represent the most valid allies for health, as they actively participate in the development processes of the organism in the little ones. The intake of the latter, combined with a varied and balanced diet, is a fundamental element for the growth of children. Let’s see in detail which vitamins are useful for strengthening the immune system.

Vitamin A

Also known as retinol, vitamin A provides support for the development of vision, bones and teeth and also promotes the development of immune support. This is contained in most orange-colored foods, such as pumpkin, carrots, apricots and melons, in green leafy vegetables and in dairy products.

Vitamin B2

Vitamin B2 is a molecule whose main benefit consists in facilitating the synthesis of energy processes. It is present in dairy products, vegetables, eggs and yeast.

Vitamin B6

Vitamin B6 is a molecule which, if taken on a regular basis, makes it possible to make the entire immune system more efficient. It is found in high percentages in foods such as vegetables, meat and dairy products.

Vitamin B12

Vitamin B12 is a red substance that favors a greater production of red blood cells and, consequently, which can be considered a very valid ally for the whole immune system. It can be taken by eating fish, poultry, dairy products and eggs.

Vitamin C

Perhaps the best known of the vitamins, vitamin C is a truly essential nutrient during the winter season. Present in many foods including fruit and vegetables, this performs the task of antioxidants, but also promotes the absorption of iron and helps the proper functioning of the immune system.

Vitamin D

Produced primarily by the body itself, vitamin D can be ingested in larger quantities simply by exposing the skin to sunlight. This plays a fundamental role in the intestinal absorption of minerals, thus resulting in the correct development of bones. Although it does not represent its main function, vitamin D also offers support to the immune system and can be found in foods such as fish, vegetables and eggs.

Prodigal Baby: the natural supplement for the immune system of the little ones

Sometimes, taking vitamins through the foods listed above can be more difficult than expected. To help the body of the little ones, we can therefore consider taking food supplements developed specifically for the children’s immune system, easily absorbed by the body, in such a way as to allow the nutrients to be immediately used to support the immune system.
The use of food supplements allows you to combine all the benefits of the vitamins previously introduced in a single solution. These are formulations for the immune defenses of children capable of contributing to a correct development of the immune system and able to provide support also to bone metabolism, brain development of the child and the normal development of vision.
